Network data disclosure via cleartext password check
Published Apr 15, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cleartext transmission in TriStation 1131 before version 4.9.1 or 4.10.1 allows remote attackers to view certain data via the optional password feature. The password check sends connection data without encryption while verifying a specific controller, exposing it to network observers. Exploitation requires the feature to be enabled and traffic to be observable on the network; the documented impact is information disclosure only.
