CVE-2020-7479

Local SYSTEM execution via unvalidated update paths

Published Mar 23, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Missing authentication in Schneider Electric IGSS 14 and earlier allows local users to execute processes as SYSTEM through the IGSS Update Service. The IGSSupdateservice service on TCP port 12414 uses a user-supplied path in privileged file operations without proper validation. Exploitation requires low-privileged code execution on the Windows host, after which the service can run attacker-controlled code in the SYSTEM context.
