CVE-2020-7475Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Controller code injection via replaced compiler DLL

Published Mar 23, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Reflective DLL injection in Schneider Electric engineering software and Modicon firmware allows attackers to transfer malicious code to PLCs. A replacement asmArm.dll hooks MyAsmArmStream during project compilation and injects attacker-supplied ARM bytecode into the controller program. Exploitation requires modification of the engineering workstation and user interaction to recompile and transfer the project, after which the code executes on the PLC.
