CVE-2020-7450Network attack vector

Code execution via unchecked URL credential decoding

Published Feb 18, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Heap buffer overflow in FreeBSD allows remote attackers to execute code through an attacker-controlled URL containing credentials. The libfetch URL decoder copies percent-decoded username or password bytes into a heap buffer without enforcing the destination length. The attacker must control a fetched URL directly or through an HTTP redirect; successful corruption can crash the consuming program or execute code in its context.
