Stored XSS via unsanitized discovered host field
Published Jun 25, 2020 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Stored XSS in Rapid7 Metasploit Pro 4.17.1-20200427 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute script in an operator's browser. A crafted network service causes a discovery scan to save an XSS sequence without adequate neutralization in the discovered asset's host field. Execution occurs when an operator views that host record, exposing the authenticated console session to script actions and data access.
