Local privilege escalation through undisclosed privilege handling
Published May 8, 2020 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Privilege escalation in McAfee EDR for Linux before 3.1.0 Hotfix 1 allows local users to perform unauthorized functions. McAfee has not published the affected component or the privilege-handling operation that incorrectly authorizes those functions. Exploitation requires a malicious script or program to run under a local low-privileged account, after which it can access functions denied to that account.
