Local code execution via installer DLL sideloading
Published Mar 26, 2020 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
DLL side loading in the McAfee Application and Change Control installer before 8.3 allows local users to execute arbitrary code. When launched from a compromised folder, the installer searches for and loads a DLL from that untrusted location instead of a trusted system path. Execution requires local access and control of the launch folder; the public advisory does not identify the DLL name or the installer process privilege level.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
