CVE-2020-7254

Arbitrary code execution via unrestricted sudo access

Published Mar 12, 2020 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Privilege escalation in McAfee Advanced Threat Defense 4.x before 4.8.2 allows local users to execute arbitrary code through the CLI. The command-line interface applies improper access controls to the sudo command, permitting a low-privileged account to invoke commands beyond its authorization. Local low-privileged CLI access is required; successful exploitation crosses the privilege boundary and can alter data or interrupt the appliance.
