Self-protection disablement via command-line access-control failure
Published Mar 12, 2020 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Improper access control in McAfee Agent 5.6.x before 5.6.4 allows local administrators to disable endpoint self-protection. The masvc.exe service accepts a request from a McAfee command-line utility without enforcing the intended self-protection access boundary. Administrator-level local access is required, and successful exploitation disables protection rather than granting additional privileges.
