Denial of service via malformed DHCP4 responses
Published Feb 5, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Memory leak in openSUSE wicked 0.6.55 and earlier allows remote attackers to exhaust memory via DHCP4 packets lacking a message type option. The ni_dhcp4_parse_response function fails to release memory after processing a response without the DHCP message type option. An unauthenticated host able to supply DHCP4 responses can repeat the malformed packet until resource exhaustion interrupts DHCP processing.
