Arbitrary file reads via unfiltered resource paths
Published Jun 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Path traversal in Eclipse Mojarra before 2.3.14 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary application files through resource requests. WebappResourceHelper and ClasspathResourceHelper accept the con parameter without filtering forbidden sequences, while ResourceManager can retain a tainted locale prefix and concatenate either value into a resource path. The issue works under the default configuration without authentication or user interaction, and disclosure is limited to files reachable within the application context.
