Remote code execution via Git URL injection
Published Jan 13, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
OS command injection in HashBrown CMS 1.3.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code through crafted Git repository settings. GitDeployer inserts the repository URL and optional credentials into a single-quoted git clone command that AppService.exec passes to a system shell without rejecting embedded quotes. Triggering a repository pull, including by selecting media, executes the injected shell command with the CMS process privileges.
