Response splitting via disabled header validation
Published Mar 12, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
HTTP response splitting in Hotels Styx 1.0.0.beta8 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject response headers via untrusted input. HttpHeaders.Builder and StyxToNettyResponseTranslator construct Netty headers and responses with built-in header validation disabled. Exploitation requires an application to copy attacker-controlled data into a response header and a victim to interact with the crafted response, enabling attacker-chosen headers or a second response.
