Application crash via stale QuotaObject origin pointer
Published Mar 25, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Use-after-free in Firefox before 74, Firefox ESR before 68.6, and Thunderbird before 68.6 allows remote attackers to crash the application. QuotaObject::LockedMaybeUpdateSize reads a freed OriginInfo through a stale raw pointer while QuotaManager clears data for an origin whose tab was recently closed. Firefox requires interaction with web content; Thunderbird disables scripting in email, limiting exposure to browser-like contexts.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
