Code execution via installer search-path hijacking
Published Mar 25, 2021 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Uncontrolled search path handling in Bosch Video Streaming Gateway 6.45.10 and earlier allows local users to execute arbitrary code. The installer invokes an executable without a trusted fully qualified path, so a matching malicious EXE in its launch directory runs in the installer's user context. Exploitation requires a victim to place the malicious file beside the installer and then launch the affected installer; an already completed installation is not exposed.
