Cross-group data access via owner context
Published Jun 17, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper authorization in OMERO.server before 5.6.1 allows remote authenticated group owners to access members' data in other groups. The server applies a group owner's authorization context when evaluating data belonging to members in separate groups, bypassing group boundaries. Exploitation requires group-owner privileges and exposes data associated with that group's members outside the managed group.
