Heap corruption via WebAudio race
Published Apr 13, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Use-after-free in WebAudio in Google Chrome before 80.0.3987.162 allows remote attackers to corrupt heap via crafted HTML. DeferredTaskHandler::ProcessAutomaticPullNodes accesses rendering_automatic_pull_handlers_ without the lock required during concurrent WebAudio operations, creating a race that leaves a renderer object usable after release. Exploitation requires a victim to load attacker-controlled HTML; successful triggering can crash the renderer and may permit heap corruption, while code execution is not established by the published record.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
