Navigation-restriction bypass via crafted HTML page
Published Feb 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Policy-enforcement failure in Google Chrome before 80.0.3987.87 allows remote attackers to bypass Safe Browsing navigation restrictions. Safe Browsing fails to apply its navigation-blocking policy when Chrome processes a crafted HTML page; Google has not published the underlying code-level cause. A user must load the attacker-controlled page, after which a blocked destination can be reached without the expected warning; no further impact is established.
