CVE-2020-6406Network attack vector

Heap corruption via audio use-after-free

Published Feb 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Use-after-free in Google Chrome's audio component before 80.0.3987.87 allows remote attackers to corrupt heap memory through crafted HTML. Google's advisory identifies only the audio component and does not disclose which object is freed or which later operation reuses it. Exploitation requires user interaction with the crafted page; the established consequence is heap corruption, not a documented sandbox escape or host compromise.
