CVE-2020-6396Network attack vector

Omnibox content spoofing

Published Feb 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Security UI spoofing in Skia in Google Chrome before 80.0.3987.87 allows remote attackers to falsify the Omnibox via crafted HTML. Google's public advisory identifies Skia but does not disclose which rendering operation mishandles the page or how it alters the displayed URL. A user must open the attacker-controlled page; the false URL can misrepresent the page's origin, with no reported data disclosure, code execution, or service interruption.
