CVE-2020-6388Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Heap corruption via racy AudioArray allocation

Published Feb 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Out-of-bounds access in WebAudio in Google Chrome before 80.0.3987.87 allows remote attackers to corrupt heap memory via crafted HTML. AudioArray::Allocate shares a static alignment-padding variable across concurrent allocations, so a data race can size a buffer incorrectly and permit writes beyond its bounds. Opening attacker-controlled HTML is required; the resulting heap corruption affects browser confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
