CVE-2020-6253Network attack vector

Privilege escalation via crafted database queries

Published May 12, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

SQL injection in SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise Web Services 15.7 and 16.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute unauthorized database queries. The Web Services Engine accepts SQL or stored-procedure commands in a SOAP execute request and forwards them to ASE over JDBC, but SAP has not disclosed the exact validation or authorization error that lets crafted queries exceed the caller's rights. Access requires valid ASE credentials and enabled Web Services; exploitation grants unauthorized database privileges, object modification, or command execution.
