Administrator-password disclosure via unmasked logs
Published May 12, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Information disclosure in SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise 16.0 allows remote authenticated users to read the system administrator password via adjacent-network endpoints. ASE stores passwords in logs without masking, allowing a misconfigured endpoint to return the credential. The attacker must already authenticate and reach the adjacent network; the disclosed password can enable administrator-level data access or service interruption.
