CVE-2020-6243Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated LocalSystem execution via unchecked ESP library load

Published May 12, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Code injection in SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise 15.7 and 16.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through XP Server. A request for a nonexistent extended procedure makes XP Server derive and load C:\SAP.DLL without validating the procedure or library path. On default Windows installations, authenticated users can write that path, allowing an ASE-connected user to execute code as LocalSystem and read, modify, or delete restricted data.
