Code execution via stale nested-page pointer
Published May 18, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Use-after-free in the PDF parser of Nitro Pro 13.9.1.155 allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted PDF file. A nested page is freed but its pointer remains in the parent PDF object, so exception cleanup dereferences stale page data and performs an out-of-bounds null-byte write. A victim must open the malicious document; successful exploitation executes attacker-controlled code in the application context.
