CVE-2020-6068Network attack vector

Code execution via wrapped PNG width allocation

Published Feb 14, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Out-of-bounds write in Accusoft ImageGear 19.5.0 allows attackers to execute code when a host application loads a crafted PNG file. The pngread parser derives an eight-byte allocation from the attacker-controlled IHDR width after integer wraparound, then writes at least 12 bytes without checking the buffer capacity. Exploitation requires delivery of a malformed PNG to an application that passes it to IG_load_file, and successful memory corruption executes code in that host process.
