Code execution via signed PCX dimension comparison
Published Feb 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Accusoft ImageGear 19.5.0 allows attackers to execute code when a crafted PCX file is processed. PCX_parse_header compares signed Xmin and Xmax values incorrectly, preventing their swap and causing uncompress_scan_line to allocate an undersized output buffer before expanding scan-line data. The host application must process a crafted PCX file with two-bit pixels and two color planes; code runs in that application's security context.
