CVE-2020-5965

Local denial of service via crafted shader

Published Jun 25, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Out-of-bounds access in NVIDIA GPU Display Driver for Windows allows local users to crash the graphics stack with a crafted shader. The DirectX 11 user-mode driver module nvwgf2um/x.dll processes that shader with an out-of-bounds memory access. Low-privilege local access is required, and the documented consequence is an availability-only denial of service rather than code execution or data exposure.
