Local information disclosure via secars.dll buffer over-read
Published Feb 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in secars.dll in Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager before 14.2 RU2 MP1 allows local users to read sensitive memory. The module fails to validate user-supplied data before reading past the end of an allocated buffer. Low-privileged code execution on the server is required; the disclosure can support a separate exploit running as the semwebsrv user.
