Account takeover via forged user-update requests
Published May 7, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in TCExam 14.2.2 allows remote attackers to alter user accounts through a victim's authenticated browser. The admin/code/tce_edit_user.php endpoint accepts attacker-chosen user IDs, passwords, and privilege levels in forged POST requests under the victim's session. A logged-in user must activate the crafted link or form; an administrator's session permits account takeover or privilege grants.
