Unauthenticated service crash via unchecked key length
Published Apr 7, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Classic buffer overflow in SolarWinds Dameware Mini Remote Control 12.1 Hotfix 3 allows remote attackers to crash DWRCS.exe. DWRCRSA.dll passes the attacker-controlled SigPubkeyLen value to memcpy without enforcing the 0x800-byte destination limit, causing a stack over-read and heap overwrite. When the DWRCS.exe Allow only FIPS Mode setting is enabled, an unauthenticated connection to TCP port 6129 can terminate the remote-control service.
