Unauthorized BMC access via RMCP session establishment

Authentication bypass in NEC BMC firmware Rev1.09 and earlier allows remote attackers to establish unauthorized IPMI over LAN sessions. The RMCP implementation permits an unauthorized session to be established when the BMC is accessed over a LAN; NEC has not disclosed the defective authentication operation. IPMI over LAN is enabled by default but requires a cable on the BMC LAN port, after which the session exposes settings and monitoring data and permits settings changes, reboots, and shutdowns.
