CVE-2020-5522Network attack vector

Sensitive-data interception via unverified server certificates

Published Jan 27, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Improper certificate validation in Kantan Netprint App for Android 2.0.3 and earlier allows man-in-the-middle attackers to read sensitive data. The app accepts a crafted X.509 server certificate without validating it as trusted, allowing an intercepted connection to terminate at an attacker-controlled server. Exploitation requires a network position between the Android device and the service; the attacker can spoof the service and capture data sent through that connection.
