CVE-2020-5353Network attack vector

Administrative access via spoofed NFS UID

Published Jul 29, 2021 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Incorrect default permissions in Dell PowerScale OneFS 9.0.0 allow remote authenticated users to gain administrative access over NFS. The default NFS configuration exposes the admin home directory and trusts a client-supplied UID, allowing a spoofed UID to rewrite sensitive files. Exploitation requires NFS access and a spoofable UID; successful file modification grants administrative control of the storage system.
