Spreadsheet formula execution via unescaped CSV cells
Published Jun 3, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
CSV formula injection in October CMS 1.0.319 through 1.0.465 allows remote authenticated users to create malicious CSV exports. ImportExportController and ExportModel write attacker-controlled cells without prefixing formula-leading characters such as equals, plus, minus, or at signs. Exploitation requires control of exportable data, a victim who exports and opens the file, and spreadsheet software that evaluates the formula despite its safety checks.
