CVE-2020-5295Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated file disclosure via unvalidated asset path

Published Jun 3, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Path traversal in October CMS 1.0.319 through 1.0.465 allows remote authenticated users to read local server files. The index_onOpenTemplate handler passes the request path into asset loading, while Asset::getFilePath concatenates it without canonicalizing the result or enforcing the theme asset-directory boundary. Exploitation requires a backend account with cms.manage_assets permission and a valid request session; the demonstrated consequence is disclosure of files readable by the server process.
