CVE-2020-5241Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Browser script execution via unescaped component strings

Published Feb 12, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Cross-site scripting in Matestack matestack-ui-core before 0.7.4 allows remote authenticated users to run script in a viewer's browser. The Plain component returns its @argument directly, while shared Haml cell rendering leaves HTML and attribute escaping disabled by default. An attacker must supply content that a victim renders; the script executes in that victim's web origin, enabling page-data access and actions with the victim's privileges.
