CVE-2020-5230Network attack vector

Arbitrary file writes via unrestricted media identifiers

Published Jan 30, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Resource injection in Opencast before 7.6 and Opencast 8.0 allows attackers to write files outside working directories via crafted identifiers. The IdImpl constructor accepts media-package and element identifiers without validating characters before filesystem consumers use them as path components. The advisory does not identify the required ingest role; writes are limited to locations accessible to the Opencast service.
