Remote code execution via oversized FRU responses

Buffer overflow in IPMItool Project ipmitool before 1.8.19 allows remote attackers to execute code via malicious IPMI responses. read_fru_area and read_fru_area_section trust a response-supplied byte count and copy that amount into frubuf without confirming that the response and destination are large enough. Exploitation requires an ipmitool user to query an attacker-controlled or compromised IPMI endpoint; successful code runs with the utility's privileges.
