CVE-2020-5204Public exploitNetwork attack vector

FTP child-process crash via oversized PORT fields

Published Jan 6, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Stack buffer overflow in Troglobit uftpd before 2.11 allows remote attackers to crash an FTP child process via a crafted PORT command. The handle_PORT routine in src/ftpcmd.c parses unrestricted decimal fields and uses sprintf to write the resulting IPv4 text into a 16-byte stack buffer. The FTP service must be enabled and network-reachable; the published proof causes SIGABRT in the child process serving the connection.
