CVE-2020-5202Public exploit

Credential disclosure via hardcoded localhost TCP connection

Published Jan 21, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Information disclosure in apt-cacher-ng 3.3 and earlier allows local users to read administrator credentials via a localhost port. The acngtool maintenance client ignores the supplied Unix SocketPath and sends its HTTP request, including Basic AdminAuth data, to localhost TCP port 3142. Exploitation requires AdminAuth to be enabled and the legitimate daemon to be absent while an unprivileged process binds port 3142 before the default cron job runs.
