Authenticated service interruption via repeated cache dumps
Published Feb 15, 2021 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Denial of service in IBM Spectrum Protect Operations Center 7.1 and 8.1 allows remote authenticated users to exhaust host storage. The DebugRPC handler accepts an oversized value through setCacheValue and lets dumpCache write a new attacker-sized file on every call. Access requires a valid session and network reachability to the management service; repeated dumps fill the filesystem and interrupt service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
