Local service interruption via mmfsd request flooding
Published Mar 1, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Denial of service in IBM Spectrum Scale 5.0 and 5.1 allows local users to stop mmfsd from servicing requests through request flooding. The daemon accepts enough requests from a non-root account to exhaust its ability to process other work; IBM has not disclosed the request interface or limiting error. Local access as a non-root user is required, and exploitation stalls daemon request handling without reported data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
