CVE-2020-4719Network attack vector

DNS query injection via unchecked webhook hostnames

Published Mar 2, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

DNS query injection in IBM Cloud Application Performance Management 8.1.4 allows remote authenticated users to alter DNS queries via webhook URLs. The Cloud Event Management webhook configuration passes its hostname to server-side DNS resolution without ensuring that the value is a valid hostname. Administrative authorization is required, and the documented consequence is creation of non-hostname DNS query strings rather than data disclosure or service interruption.
