CVE-2020-4471Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Appliance reboot via unauthenticated network configuration changes

Published Jun 15, 2020 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Improper authentication in IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.0 through 10.1.5 allows remote attackers to alter appliance network settings via HTTP. The /emi/api/netconfig endpoint accepts unauthenticated GET and POST requests, passes submitted settings to a Python update script, and reboots the appliance. Network reachability to the administrative service is sufficient to redirect DNS resolution or interrupt backup operations through a reboot.
