CVE-2020-4429Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated root code execution via default SSH credentials

Published May 7, 2020 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Use of hard-coded credentials in IBM Data Risk Manager 2.0.1 through 2.0.6.1 allows remote attackers to execute code as root via SSH. The virtual appliance provisions the a3user administrative account with the shared password idrm and grants that account sudo access with the same credential. Network access to TCP port 22 is sufficient to open an SSH session with the published credentials and obtain full root control.
