Local code execution via DLL planting
Published Apr 23, 2020 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Insufficient file permissions in IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.3.0 through fix pack 7 allow local users to execute arbitrary code via DLL planting. Installation directories permit non-privileged file placement, so a crafted DLL is loaded from the same directory during normal component execution. The attacker needs local access; successful loading provides code execution with the privileges of the Tivoli Monitoring process and can affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
