Root command execution via timezone parameter
Published Mar 31, 2020 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Command injection in IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.0 through 10.1.5 allows remote attackers to execute commands as root. The Administrative Console Framework service passes the unvalidated timezone parameter into a system call. Authentication is nominally required, but ZDI reports that the existing mechanism can be bypassed, enabling full appliance compromise.
