CVE-2020-4051Network attack vector

Authenticated XSS via unfiltered link description

Published Jun 15, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Cross-site scripting in Dijit Editor's LinkDialog plugin before 1.11.11 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via crafted link descriptions. LinkDialog places the description text into generated link HTML without filtering, so attacker-controlled markup is rendered in a victim's browser; the patch filters the textInput value by default. Exploitation requires a user with access to create or edit links and a victim to view the resulting content, enabling script actions such as cookie theft within the hosting site's session.
