CVE-2020-3916Network attack vector

Photo disclosure via alternate app icon

Published Apr 1, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Information disclosure in Apple iOS before 13.4 and watchOS before 6.2 allows attackers to read photos via alternate app icons. The Icons component fails to enforce photo sandbox restrictions when an application sets an alternate app icon, exposing a photo without photo-library permission. A malicious application must run on the device, and the reported impact is limited to unauthorized photo confidentiality disclosure.
